Doctors Jailed for Issuing False Medical Certificates to Imprisoned Moroccan Politician

Two doctors have been placed in detention for having issued false medical certificates to Mohamed Moubdii, president of the commune of Fkih Ben Saleh and deputy of the Popular Movement (MP), currently incarcerated in the Oukacha prison for alleged financial crimes.
After their arrest, a gynecologist who sits on the municipal council of Fkih Ben Salah as a member of the MP and an anesthetist who practices in a private clinic, were placed in pre-trial detention on Wednesday by the prosecutor of the king near the court of first instance of Fkih Ben Salah, then appeared before the jurisdiction. They are prosecuted for forgery, issuance of unfounded medical certificates, complicity and attempted obstruction of justice, reports the Arabic-language daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
The two doctors are accused of having issued medical certificates attesting to the physical incapacity of the parliamentarian and former minister, Mohamed Moubdii, who did not appear before the National Brigade of the Judicial Police who had summoned him for a case of misappropriation of public funds. But images broadcast by television showed the elected official chairing a meeting of the Justice and Legislation Committee in the House of Representatives. He will be arrested with thirteen other co-defendants.
Since April 27, Mohamed Moubdii has been incarcerated in the Oukacha prison for alleged financial crimes, along with seven other co-defendants out of a total of 13 people prosecuted, including entrepreneurs who have benefited from contracts from the municipality he chairs. According to the initial elements of the investigation, he should face several charges, including misappropriation of public funds, forgery and use of forgeries, as well as offenses related to urban planning laws.
