Former Ajax Star Abdelhak Nouri Shows Improvement Years After Collapse

Three years after coming out of a coma, Abdelhak Nouri is showing signs of improvement. The former Ajax Amsterdam player, each progress he makes is seen by his loved ones as a miracle.
It’s been six years since the former Ajax player, Abdelhak Nouri collapsed during a training match in Austria, victim of a heart attack that caused serious brain damage. In an interview with Ajax life, his brother Abderrahim said he is doing better "given the situation." He emphasizes that since "Abdelhak lives at home, he knows where he is. He is calmer. He eats, he has a good weight, he is more lucid and he integrates better."
His family is able to communicate easily with him. "For example, when he is in pain or wants to lie down differently, he is able to let us know. We asked Abdelhak questions. If he wanted to answer a question with yes, he had to move his eyebrows and if he answered no, he didn’t have to do anything. We tested that, of course. I got goosebumps, it was so beautiful," Abderrahim Nouri confides.
He points out that despite the progress made by the former playmaker, there is still a kind of sadness that overwhelms the family. But his loved ones are comforted by the fact that his condition has improved significantly. "He has regained color, he is alert, he laughs when we tell him jokes and he is moved when we talk to him about his memories. Yes, it is a remarkable progress compared to the beginning," Abderrahim rejoices.
