Former Ajax Player Abdelhak Nouri Showing Signs of Recovery After Long Coma

Abdelhak Nouri, a Dutch player of Moroccan origin who had suffered a cardiac arrest in 2017 during a friendly match between his former club Ajax and Werder, is gradually recovering since he left the hospital, after nearly three years in a coma.
Abdelhak Nouri "is doing much better since he is at home," his brother told the Dutch press, adding that the former footballer "is conscious" and has the support of his family. The player of Moroccan origin is gradually recovering from the long coma he emerged from after two years and nine months, reports Marca.
Nouri suffered this cardiac arrest in the 72nd minute of a friendly match between his team Ajax and Werder Bremen in Austria. The young player, 20 years old at the time of the incident, is suffering from the aftermath of this accident that will affect his brain.
During the World Cup in Qatar, the Atlas Lions paid tribute to Nouri after their victory against Spain in the round of 16, by posing around a jersey bearing the name of Abdelhak Nouri with the number 34.
