Forest Fires Rage Across Northern Morocco, Overwhelming Firefighters

Morocco is not done with forest fires. This Monday, August 22, a fire was recorded in Ifrane, adding to those already underway in Taounate, Al Hoceima and Chefchaouen. Even if in Chefchaouen, the fire has been somewhat brought under control, in the other cities, it is still panic.
Since last Friday, August 19, several regions located in northern Morocco have been facing fires that have set several forests ablaze. However, according to local authorities, the fire that broke out in Chefchaouen has been "70% brought under control," stressing that the news is not as good in Taounate and Al Hoceima where teams continue to fight to bring the flames under control.
While the teams dispatched are overwhelmed and vainly trying to overcome these various forest fires, another one broke out this Monday in Ifrane. Efforts continue on the ground with monitoring of the situation to limit the damage from the flames.
