Forensic Evidence Reveals Sexual Assault in 13-Year-Old's Murder Case

During a press conference held on Thursday by the Liège public prosecutor’s office, shocking revelations were made about the murder of Malak, the 13-year-old girl killed by Olivier Theunissen, a 37-year-old man from Seraing. The forensic doctor indeed found traces of sexual assault on the young girl’s body.

These new elements shed light on the dramatic events that occurred last week. According to the investigations, Olivier would have tried to engage in a forced sexual relationship with Malak, who would have refused and struggled. He would then have committed the unthinkable by killing the teenager in the woods of Ougrée.

Faced with the seriousness of his situation, Olivier Theunissen would have decided to end his own life, by hanging himself on the gate of the former "La Coccinelle" restaurant in Neupré.

The First Deputy Prosecutor of the King of Liège, Catherine Collignon, declared: "Additional analyzes are still ongoing. We continue to investigate this tragedy and we will do everything in our power to shed light on these horrible events."

This double tragedy has shocked the communities of Liège and Seraing and has elicited many messages of support for Malak’s loved ones.
