Moroccan Man Fatally Stabbed in Liège Street Dispute Over Debt

A Moroccan stabbed his compatriot to death during a dispute in the middle of the street, in the Fragnée neighborhood of Liège. The dispute was over a debt of money.

The events took place around 9 a.m. in the Fragnée neighborhood of Liège on May 28. A dispute breaks out between two men speaking a foreign language, in the street. The dispute escalates on Rue de Harlez. "One of the two individuals takes out a blade and stabs his rival," reports Sud info. The latter died on the spot. "The first traces of blood are spotted at the level of number 58. It seems that the victim had advanced towards the Quai de Rome. He is found at the level of number 7," explained Damien Leboutte, division prosecutor at the Liège public prosecutor’s office.

An investigation was opened after this murder, but it would be difficult to solve, as there are no city cameras directed on this axis. The alleged murderer has not yet been apprehended. Only the origin of the dispute and the main parties involved is known. "It seems that the victim is Moroccan, indicates Catherine Collignon, First Deputy Prosecutor of the King of Liège. He had just arrived in Belgium - 48 hours before the events - from Spain, via France. We do not yet have the identity of the perpetrator, but it seems that he also comes from Morocco. The dispute concerned a debt of money."
