Belgian Footballer Sofian Kiyine Hospitalized After Dramatic Car Crash into Sports Hall

The football player Sofian Kiyine, who hit a roundabout before flying several meters and landing in a sports hall in Flémalle (province of Liège), has not yet been able to be heard by the investigators, the Liège prosecutor’s office announced on Friday afternoon. Although injured, his life is not in danger.
The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon near the sports hall in Flémalle. For an unknown reason, the Oud-Heverlee Louvain player was alone in his car when he hit the roundabout at full speed, before flying several meters and ending up in the sports hall.
The emergency services had to extricate the young man, before transporting him to the hospital to receive care. The investigators have not yet been able to question him, due to his state of health.
According to the prosecutor’s office cited by Belga, the offenses retained for the moment only concern road traffic, but toxicological analyses are underway to determine whether there was an influence of alcohol or drugs on the driver.
The investigation, which is ongoing, will have to determine the exact causes of this accident that could have had dramatic consequences.
