Football: who is Ziyad Baha, the 16-year-old Moroccan prodigy who just signed with OM?
It had been in the works for a few weeks already, and it is now official. Olympique de Marseille has announced the arrival of Moroccan striker Ziyad Baha (16 years old). Son of former international Nabil Baha (20 caps), the young striker, who has played for Malaga and Betis, will discover a new club by signing with Marseille.
Highly followed in Morocco, he made a name for himself by winning the U17 AFCON with Morocco (4 goals in the competition) under the orders of his father, the U17 national team coach. Recently, he participated in the great run of the Atlas Lions at the U17 World Cup (4 goals in the tournament). He can therefore take a new step in his young career before possibly knocking on the door of the professionals.
"A new chapter begins with Olympique de Marseille. I have already been training and progressing in Marseille for a month. After reflection, I chose to follow a different path, despite the opportunities to continue at Real Betis, because I wanted to take a step that corresponds to my ambitions and my development as a footballer. This new chapter is an opportunity to surpass myself every day, to continue to learn and to take on new challenges at the highest level. I approach this stage with ambition, determination and one idea in mind: Straight to the Goal. Hard work, consistency and discipline will always speak for themselves," he explained on Instagram.
The young player benefits from the guidance of his father, Nabil Baha. The former Moroccan international and current U17 national team coach is ensuring the progression of his son, insisting on the importance of hard work and humility. This arrival at Marseille is part of the club’s policy to integrate promising young elements into its training center.
