Mercato: a 16-year-old Moroccan gem shakes up OM
Olympique de Marseille is preparing to recruit a young talent from the Moroccan youth system. The French club would have reached an agreement with Ziyad Baha, a 16-year-old striker who stood out during the last U17 World Cup.
The recent performances of Morocco’s youth teams have attracted the attention of European recruiters. After the participation of the Atlas Lions in the quarter-finals of the U17 World Cup in Qatar, Ziyad Baha’s stock has risen. The striker scored four goals during the competition, demonstrating technical qualities and maturity above the average for his age group. These performances have sparked the interest of several teams, including Manchester United, who have made inquiries with Betis Seville and Calavera CF, where the player was trained.
Despite this English interest, it is Olympique de Marseille who seem to have secured the deal. An agreement has already been reached between the player and the club. If this transfer materializes, Ziyad Baha will initially join the under-19 (U19) team to continue his development.
The young player benefits from the guidance of his father, Nabil Baha. The former Moroccan international and current U17 national team coach is overseeing his son’s progress, emphasizing the importance of hard work and humility. This potential arrival in Marseille is part of the club’s policy to integrate promising young elements into its youth academy.
