A Spanish legend soon to serve the Atlas Lions?
The former Spanish footballer Andrés Iniesta is currently staying in Rabat, where he is the subject of strong interest from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
The governing body is considering integrating the former FC Barcelona player into the national football development project launched at the initiative of King Mohammed VI. This approach aims to strengthen the country’s technical management thanks to recognized international expertise.
According to information reported by the media AS, discussions have been initiated between the two parties to define a collaboration. Andrés Iniesta, who ended his playing career a year ago after experiences in Japan and with the Emirates Club in Dubai, is currently undergoing training to become a technical manager. His ambition is to hold the positions of coach or sports director.
This approach by the Moroccan federation comes in a context of reflection on the orientation of its sports management. The potential integration of Andrés Iniesta would thus bring a new dynamic to the technical structure of Moroccan football.
The initiative is directly part of the preparation for the 2030 World Cup. For this deadline, Morocco is aiming to mobilize all the necessary means in order to structure a project capable of vying for the world title. The contribution of a figure like Iniesta would be a key element of this long-term development strategy.
