Firefighters Prevent Potential Explosion Near Toulouse Mosque

The Toulouse firefighters quickly intervened to extinguish a car on fire in a dead-end street in the La Reynerie district. The car contained a gas cylinder.
As they tried to bring the fire under control, the firefighters discovered a gas cylinder on the front seat of this van parked near the As-Salam mosque and the premises of the Muslim association of Toulouse, reports Actu Toulouse.
"In this type of intervention, with a 13 kg gas bottle like this one, the safety perimeter is set at 100 meters. But thanks to the rapid intervention of the firefighters, the worst was probably avoided," said a source to the Toulouse media.
No official source has so far mentioned the hypothesis of an attack. "For the time being, we do not have any particular leads. In the current state of the investigation, nothing suggests a link with terrorism or radicalization. Things can always evolve, but it looks more like a common law case," said the Toulouse Prosecutor’s Office.
