Toulouse Man Sentenced for Kidnapping Woman Who Refused Marriage Proposal

A man had kidnapped a young woman in his home in Toulouse for hours, in a car because of her refusal to marry him. The Evry-Courcouronnes criminal court sentenced him to 10 months in prison with a suspended sentence.
"He wanted to marry me, I had no intention of doing so," the young woman confided to the investigators. Adam* had made his proposal to Malika* on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, reports actuEssonne. "I needed an explanation," the defendant replied to the president of the Evry-Courcouronnes criminal court to justify his act.
Absent from the court that day, the victim had recounted the facts during her hearing. "Adam moved in with his brother-cousin in early July. We got along but nothing more. And then he got it into his head to marry me. I gently pushed him away but he persisted until he became very insistent. Once again, he was waiting for me in front of my house in his brother’s car. He told me he wanted to talk to me. I agreed to get in," she recounted.
"Why don’t you love me, why don’t you love me?" the lover threw at her. Then he confiscated Malika’s phone, blocked the passenger door, and headed towards Paris. He tried to convince Malika, but the young woman remained firm. He then decided to abandon her a few kilometers from Paris.
The investigators managed to find Adam at one of his sisters’. In court, he made his mea culpa. In addition to his 10-month suspended prison sentence, he was formally prohibited from contacting the victim.
