FIFA Shortlists Morocco’s Yassine Bounou for 2022 Best Goalkeeper Award

Moroccan international Yassine Bounou is among the 7 players in the running for the "The Best" trophy for best goalkeeper of 2022. The list of candidates was published by the International Football Federation (FIFA).
The awards will be presented on February 27, 2023, and cover the period from August 8, 2021 to December 18, 2022, the FIFA specifies. The winner will succeed Senegalese Édouard Mendy, winner of the 2021 edition.
Among the 7 candidates to win this title of best goalkeeper of 2022, we find Alisson Becker (Brazil), Thibault Courtois (Belgium), Dominik Livakovic (Croatia), Emiliano Martinez (Argentina), Mike Maignan (France) and Manuel Neuer (Germany).
The goalkeeper of the Seville FC club was one of the architects of the historic run of the Atlas Lions at the 2022 World Cup. Bounou managed three clean sheets in 6 matches during the competition. For the record, the Moroccan international was named best goalkeeper of the Spanish championship at the end of the 2021/2022 season, winning the Zamora Trophy awarded by the Spanish sports daily "Marca".
