FIFA Rules Complicate Munir El Haddadi’s Morocco National Team Switch

The request made by Munir El Haddadi to wear the Moroccan jersey may not be successful. Between the refusal of FIFA and the hesitation of the national coach to devote himself to the case, the 24-year-old player will have to be patient.
The Moroccan-Spanish player has been taking steps for several years to defend the colors of Morocco. But since he has played an official match with La Roja, FIFA has rejected his request. However, the sports institution announces that a reform of the regulations is underway which could allow the player’s request to be granted.
For his part, the coach of Morocco, Vahid Halilhodzic, refuses to devote too much time to this file as long as FIFA has not had its last word. "I know he wants to represent Morocco, as we saw during his celebration after the Europa League final. But his case is difficult and has not yet been resolved by FIFA, so I won’t spend too much time on it for now."
The FIFA congress that is to consider this point is expected on September 18.
