Fez Sacred Music Festival Organizers Dispute Unauthorized Revival Attempt

The Esprit de Fès Foundation has issued a statement in which it has emphasized that it is the sole organization responsible for the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, and that the non-holding of the festival since last year takes into account the respect of the measures taken by the authorities to fight against the spread of Covid-19. This clarification comes in response to an announcement made by a third party to organize the next edition of the Festival, from June 4 to 12 under the theme "New Andalusias".
For 20 years, the Esprit de Fès Foundation has been given the mission of organizing this festival under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI. It is for this reason that it finds the statements made by a third party to revive this cultural and religious event "illegitimate and irresponsible". In its press release, the Esprit de Fès Foundation indicates that it will take all legal measures to preserve this intangible heritage of the city of Fez, which has become over the years one of the greatest festivals in the world for its reputation and its great cultural and spiritual wealth.
Aware of the danger in sight, the Board of Directors of the Esprit de Fès Foundation has decided to meet in a few days to take "reasoned decisions" to protect the Festival from all "counterproductive maneuvers". For the Foundation, it is essential that the Festival remains a tool of solidarity and exemplarity at the service of the influence of the values and image of Morocco and the city of Fez, concludes the press release.
