Fez Sacred Music Festival Organizers Jailed for Misappropriation of Funds

Three members of the Esprit de Fès Foundation were sentenced on Tuesday to a term of imprisonment and a fine. These legal troubles come a few days after the closing of the 26th edition of the Fez Festival of Sacred Music of the World.
It is a leader of the Esprit de Fès Foundation and two former officials who were sentenced on Tuesday to one year in prison and the payment of a fine of 20,000 DH for misappropriation of public funds and mismanagement. Other accused also received a ten-month prison sentence and had to pay an enforceable fine of 2,000 DH for forgery in customary writings, reports L’Économiste.
Eight other people prosecuted in the same case were acquitted by the court and released. The three convicted members should appeal this judgment.
