Fez Police Officers Arrested for Alleged Embezzlement of Traffic Fines

Three police officers in Fez have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a case of forgery, forgery and use of forgeries, and embezzlement of public funds. An investigation has been opened to determine their guilt or innocence.

According to a police source, the three police officers (a senior officer, a brigadier and a retired senior officer) from the Fez police prefecture are accused of having embezzled the fines collected for traffic violations. They were arrested after irregularities were found in the management of these funds by an audit carried out by the national security services.

The report of this audit on the embezzlement of 42 million dirhams from the traffic ticket office of the Fez police prefecture between 2021 and 2022 was transmitted to the regional judicial police brigade of Fez, which opened an investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to establish the responsibility or not of the suspects. Pending the outcome of the investigation, the accused have been taken into custody.

At the same time, the General Directorate of National Security has decided to temporarily suspend the two police officers still on active duty from their duties. They could face disciplinary sanctions if their guilt is proven.
