Fez: A minor convicted for the murder of his friend

The court of first instance in Fez has sentenced a minor to five years in prison for the murder of his friend.
The victim, a 19-year-old high school student, and the convicted minor got into an argument while playing football with other young people from the neighboring districts of the Saiss district. They were separated by their friends and each went home. But once home, the convicted minor asked his older brother for help to attack the victim.
Thus, during the night, the two brothers lay in wait for the young man as he was returning to his parents’ home in the Âaouinate Hajjaj neighborhood, and attacked him with a bladed weapon, causing him a serious abdominal injury. The victim died a few moments later from hemorrhage.
The minor was convicted of "assault and battery resulting in death without intent to kill" to five years in prison. His older brother was sentenced to ten years in prison. The two brothers were also ordered to pay 20,000 dirhams in damages to the victim’s parents.
