Moroccan YouTuber’s Prison Sentence Doubled on Appeal for Defamation Against Justice Minister

The Court of Appeal of Agadir has just increased to four years in prison the sentence of YouTuber Reda Taoujni, who was initially sentenced in first instance to two years in prison for defamation and other offenses.
Following a complaint filed against him by the Minister of Justice, Abdelatif Ouahbi, Reda Taoujni had been sentenced by the court of first instance of Agadir to a sentence of two years in prison and a fine of 20,000 dirhams, as well as the payment of a symbolic compensation of one dirham to the civil party.
The YouTuber was accused of usurpation of title, insult to a public official in the exercise of his functions, dissemination of false information via computer systems, defamation and dissemination of images of a person without his consent.
