Moroccan YouTuber Sentenced to 2 Years for Defamation and Privacy Violations

Mohamed Reda Taoujni, Moroccan YouTuber, was sentenced to two years in prison, a 20,000 dirham fine and a symbolic one dirham by the court of first instance in Agadir.
The man was prosecuted for numerous charges:
• Usurpation of the identity of a regulated profession
• Insult to a public official
• Repeated dissemination of false information and allegations likely to harm privacy or defame
• Recording and disseminating images of a person without their consent
Before his conviction, he had been detained at the local prison in Ait Melloul. The request for provisional release filed by his lawyers was rejected.
The court found Mr. Taoujni guilty of the charges against him and sentenced him to two years in prison and a fine. He was also ordered to pay a symbolic one dirham to the civil party.
To recall, Mohamed Reda Taoujni was the subject of two defamation lawsuits filed by Abdellatif Ouahbi, the current Moroccan Minister of Justice.
