Fez-Meknes Region Invests 2.1 Billion Dirhams in Rural Development Projects

The Fez-Meknes Regional Council intends to reduce spatial and social disparities in its territory. To this end, a program of 284 projects, with a total investment of more than 2.1 billion DH, has been set up for the benefit of the populations.
During the ordinary session of July recently held in Fez, Mohand Laenser, president of the council, detailed to the elected officials the content of this envelope intended to change the living environment and the situation of the rural populations in the region, reports the MAP, adding that it will be used to finance the structural projects already developed.
In detail, 1.4 billion DH are allocated to road investments, while drinking water supply mobilizes 600.6 million DH. The rest of the budget covers several areas, such as rural electrification (93.68 million DH), health (3.27 million DH) and the education sector (45.45 million DH).
To date, the council has transferred more than 569 million DH in favor of the partners for the realization of 63 projects touching the five sectors and some 572 million DH for the benefit of the companies in charge of the execution of these operations. These envelopes concern 185 projects, i.e. an engagement rate of 71%.
In addition to the program, the region has carried out 60 other projects (215 million DH), with an engagement rate of nearly 97%, Mohand Lanser stressed.
Furthermore, the regional official presented the assessment of the council’s action during its 2015-2021 term, which details the achievements at the regional and provincial levels in the various sectors of activity and the progress in the implementation of the development programs.
