Fez to Launch $5.5 Million Technopark, Boosting Morocco’s Startup Ecosystem

A Technopark worth 55 MDH will be built in the city of Fez. The creation of this program focused on about ten startup and innovative business projects aims to strengthen the economic attractiveness of the Fez-Meknes region.
For a total cost of 55 million DH, the project will be financed by three partners, to the tune of 30 MDH for the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, 20 MDH for the City of Fez and 5 MDH for the Moroccan Information Technopark Company (MITC).
The Ministry of Industry, Trade, Services and the Green Economy as well as the Wilaya are also partners in this Technopark project planned to be located on an area of 7,000 ha in the building initially intended to house the large cultural complex in Oued Fès.
The new infrastructure will consist of an incubator for innovative projects, spaces for small, medium and large companies and for training as well as spaces for ecosystem partners and others for proximity services, reports the MAP based on the terms of the partnership agreement.
Future privileged partner of companies specialized in new technologies in the region, the Technopark of Fez will have the mission of promoting creativity and the exchange of expertise by creating the necessary incentive conditions for the success of startups.
It stems from the program contract between the State and the Fez-Meknes region, which covers dozens of projects worth more than 11 billion DH.
It is also part of the 2014-2020 Industrial Acceleration Plan and the national Maroc Numeric strategy and reflects the desire to exploit this heritage to strengthen the productive fabric of the region, with incubators being a key lever for economic, social and technological development.
The supervision of the project implementation is ensured by the Regional Project Execution Agency (AREP), under the Fez-Meknes Regional Council.
