Fez City Council Terminates Contract with Troubled Bus Operator

The city council of Fez voted to terminate the urban transport management contract with the City Bus company. This decision follows numerous malfunctions and growing dissatisfaction among users.
City Bus is accused of not having respected the terms of the contract, particularly with regard to the condition of the bus fleet, safety, comfort and accessibility. The company is also said not to have provided a quality public service.
This decision comes in a tense social context. City Bus employees recently went on strike to protest against the non-payment of their salaries and their non-registration with social security.
Moreover, several incidents have marked the news in recent months, including a serious accident involving a City Bus and several vehicle fires.
The municipality of Fez will now have to find a new solution for the management of urban transport. As for the users, they hope for a rapid improvement of the situation, while the spiritual capital must host several matches of the Africa Cup of Nations at the end of the year.
