Fatal Brawl in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella Leaves Moroccan Man Dead
A 45-year-old Moroccan died in the hospital after getting into a fight with a man on the Plaza del Comercio, in the Ciutat Vella neighborhood of Barcelona.
A brawl that turned tragic. A dispute broke out between two regulars of the Care and Monitoring Center (CAS). From the terrace of the "Rincón Gallego" Bar, the situation did not prompt any intervention. "It’s like this every day, every day," said the waitress in another store just in front of the "Farigola". This time, the aggressor went too far, to the point that the fight was inevitable between them.
According to the testimony of a couple who closely followed the scene, the aggressor approached and dealt a "brutal" blow with a beer bottle to his victim, a 45-year-old Moroccan. Before fleeing, the murderer seemed to tell the witnesses to the scene that the other man had "stolen" from him.
Immediately, the witnesses called 112 and an ambulance arrived on the scene. According to the witnesses, the medical team tried to resuscitate him before transferring him to the hospital. He died two hours later.
This crime adds to the five others recorded in Barcelona during this summer period. Fights are frequent in front of this CAS, several customers and waiters from the two bars interviewed have confided.
