Extremist Arrested After Failed Attack on Guard at Marrakech Royal Residence

An extremist tried to attack one of the guards on duty in front of the royal residence of Sidi Moumen in Marrakech. Neutralized by the other police officers, he was arrested and placed in custody for the needs of the investigation.
The suspect is a repeat offender who had just served a sentence for a terrorism case, reports Al Massae. He attacked the police officer by surprise, restraining him by the neck before pulling out a bladed weapon to slit his throat.
The quick reaction of the other police officers allowed the royal guard to be saved just in time. For now, no details have been given on the motives of this attack. During his custody, he was questioned by investigators to determine whether this attack came from a lone wolf or if it had been prepared with the complicity of other suspects.
