Extreme Heatwave Grips Morocco as Temperatures Soar to 48°C (118°F)

It should be a hot day for a good part of Morocco this Sunday, August 23. Temperatures should approach 50 degrees.
According to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM), it will be hot in the South, the Southeast, the Souss, Chiadma, the Oriental, the phosphate plateaus and the central interior plains.
In terms of temperatures, this morning it will be 14 to 19 degrees in the High Atlas, 18 to 23 degrees in the northern and central plains, the Rif, the Middle Atlas, the Anti-Atlas and the northwest of the southern provinces, 23 to 29 degrees in the Oriental, the Saiss, the plains west of the Atlas, the phosphate plateaus, the southeast slopes and the west interior of the southern provinces and 30 to 35 degrees in the southeast of the country and in the south and east of the southern provinces.
This afternoon, we expect 24 to 31 degrees on the coasts and the Atlas, 32 to 38 degrees on the Mediterranean coast, the rest of the Rif, the Oriental, the Atlantic plains and near the southern coasts, 39 to 45 degrees on the southeast slopes, the Souss, the plains west of the Atlas, the Saiss, the western Rif, the phosphate plateaus and the northwest of the southern provinces and 43 to 48 degrees in the far southeast of the country and in the south and east of the Saharan provinces.
