Elusive Drug Lord "Ould Haouat" Captured in Dramatic Farm Raid

The alleged drug baron nicknamed "Ould Haouat" has reached the end of his run. The National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) of Casablanca succeeded, at the end of last week, in apprehending this drug trafficker who had long evaded the security services in the Gharb region.

Due to his clandestine movements between his residence in Larache and a farm he operated in Moulay Bousselham, the fugitive always managed to evade his arrest, until last Friday when he was apprehended on his farm. "According to sources close to the case, the BNPJ elements had placed the fugitive under close surveillance before apprehending him last Friday," reports Al Akhbar. After his arrest, the nicknamed "Ould Haouat" was taken to the BNPJ headquarters in Casablanca. Two rifles and other items were seized during the operation.

This arrest follows several years of investigation in the region. It comes nearly two years after the dismantling of a vast network whose leader, "Lakraa", has recently been sentenced by the Court of Appeal of Kénitra to ten years in prison. The nicknamed "Ould Haouat" would be one of the close collaborators of the latter. The names of these two drug traffickers are mentioned in dozens of drug trafficking cases, arrests and drug seizures in the Moulay Bousselham and Kénitra regions.
