Drug Baron’s Prison Letter Exposes Notary in Kenitra Trafficking Scandal

A letter sent from prison by an incarcerated drug baron as part of the dismantling of a drug trafficking network is causing difficulties for a notary in Kenitra.
It all started with a letter sent from his prison by a drug baron. He had been arrested during the dismantling of a drug trafficking network on the coasts of Kenitra, and then brought before the investigating judge with his accomplices. He had subsequently been placed in pre-trial detention before the prosecution revised the referral decision, according to Assabah.
In this correspondence, the drug baron claims that a notary would have acted as an intermediary to bribe judicial officials, in order to favorably influence the settlement of his case. He is suspected of having had dubious financial transactions with this network. The National Office for the Fight against Financial and Economic Crimes under the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) of Casablanca has then decided to summon the notary.
The hearing took place on the premises of the BNPJ and lasted for nearly ten hours. Precautionary measures were then taken: the investigators were indeed instructed to withdraw the notary’s passport and to close the borders against him. The notary risks being brought before the prosecution at the end of the preliminary investigation.
