Electricity Price Hike Sparks Protests in Rabat as Residents Decry Complex Billing

Households are grumbling against the rise in electricity prices in Rabat. A demonstration is planned for this purpose in the very near future.
The residents of Rabat are angry about the rise in electricity bills. According to consumer associations, the calculation of the electricity tariff is defined by complex modalities including unjustified taxes. This criticized method adds up different costs, thus arousing the ire of residents who can no longer stand the price increases.
As a result, repeated demonstrations are planned in the Moroccan capital.
This increase is denounced by several residents, particularly those living in the Youssoufia district, reports Barlamane. According to one of the residents, this increase is historic and has particularly affected underprivileged households, some of which have seen their bill go from 300 to 1200 dirhams. "It’s been years since we’ve seen an increase of this magnitude," he recalls.
