Eight Arrested in Rabat for Involvement in Woman’s Death Shared on Social Media

A press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) revealed that the 8 people who were arrested are between 33 and 61 years old and are accused of having passively participated in the murder of a woman. And this crime was the subject of a publication on social networks through a video posted online.

This element attracted the attention of the Rabat Police Prefecture services. They traced back to the individual involved in filming the video, who is himself incarcerated for another case, according to the same DGSN press release. The investigations continue because 7 other individuals would have witnessed the assault that cost the woman her life but without helping the victim to defend herself and save her life. Among them, some even became aware of the video, before its publication, but did not inform any judicial authority, even though they knew the circumstances in which the acts of murder took place.

Consequently, the 8 persons concerned were placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation conducted under the direction of the competent prosecutor’s office. The aim is to determine the ins and outs of the case and to detect any other possible accomplices.
