Egyptian Singer Angham Mistaken for Ahlam at Mawazine Festival Opening

An incident marked the opening of the Mawazine festival in Rabat. Egyptian singer Angham was the victim of a name mix-up during an interview with a journalist, who called her by the name of Emirati singer Ahlam.
Visibly annoyed, Angham did not hide her discontent. This reaction was filmed and quickly shared on social media, triggering a wave of comments and reactions.
Faced with the controversy, Ahlam decided to break her silence and react to the video. In a comment posted on the "X" platform, she sought to appease the tensions by recalling that name mistakes can happen and that there was no malicious intent.
"I am Ahlam and she is Angham," she declared. "Previously, during a press conference, a journalist had mistakenly called me by the name of another artist and I had responded that it was an honor and that’s it."
Ahlam also stated that her name was not an insult and that the Mawazine festival, which has invited a great artist like Angham to participate in the evenings, had no intention of offending her. "My name is an honor," she insisted. "And it is certain that a festival of the stature and value of Mawazine, which has invited a great artist like Angham to participate in the evenings, had no intention of offending her."
