Egyptian Man Arrested in Marrakech for Impersonating Diplomat, Embassy Confirms

The police elements of Marrakech proceeded to the arrest of an Egyptian who usurped the title of Deputy Ambassador of Egypt to Morocco or Cultural Advisor to the Embassy. He will be brought before the prosecutor of the king near the court of first instance of the ochre city.
His arrest follows a complaint filed by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Morocco, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc. In this complaint, the embassy stated that an Egyptian residing in Rabat who is posing as an Egyptian diplomat has joined his wife in Marrakech. Several facts are blamed on him, including a complaint addressed, in the name of the Deputy Ambassador of Egypt, to the Governor of the city of Marrakech, and a visit to the director of the urban agency on April 20.
The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt also stated that the fake Egyptian diplomat is not attached to any service of the representation. In addition, the car bearing the mention (CD) that he uses does not belong to its services. All this information allowed the Marrakech police elements to arrest the person concerned last Friday.
