Dutch Footballer Mohamed Ihattaren Faces Legal Troubles for Alleged Assault and Threats

According to a Dutch media, Mohamed Ihattaren would have legal troubles. The player of Moroccan origin would be prosecuted for assault and attempted incitement to threat.

The player is being prosecuted for an assault committed on February 11, 2023 and for a case of attempted incitement to threat that occurred on October 7, 2022, according to sources at the Dutch news agency. Ihattaren’s lawyer, Sander Janssen, claims not to be informed of these accusations, while the public prosecutor’s office has indicated that a 21-year-old man from Vleuten is being prosecuted for these acts, without however confirming that it is Ihattaren. No court date has yet been set for these cases.

To recall, Mohamed Ihattaren had been arrested in February 2023 at his home in Vleuten (Utrecht), after his fiancée, the influencer Yasmine Driouech, filed a complaint against him for assault. At the end of 2022, the young player had also been arrested for his alleged involvement in another case. The dates match, but it is not certain that this last case is still ongoing.

Ihattaren joined Ajax in 2022, but did not get much playing time because he was the subject of threats after getting engaged to Yasmine Driouech. Even his Porsche Panamera was set on fire in Utrecht. Former international Wesley Sneijder then took him under his wing, without much success. "He was serious for two days, then he started not taking himself seriously again," Sneijder regretted.

The troubles of the player of Moroccan origin began after the death of his father in 2019. He left PSV, after several conflicts with coach Roger Schmidt, then joined Juventus who loaned him to Sampdoria. But Ihattaren disappeared for a while before reappearing, which prompted the Italian club to terminate his contract after a few months. He was then loaned to Ajax who, disappointed with his performances, terminated his contract. Juventus, no longer knowing what to do with him, finally terminated his contract last July. Ihattaren currently plays for Slavia Prague, a first league club in the Czech Republic.
