Former Ajax Midfielder Ihattaren Faces Domestic Violence Charges

Lawyer Hendriksen confirms that player of Moroccan origin Mohamed Ihattaren is being prosecuted in court for minor violence against his fiancée Yasmine Driouech in February.
"It is indeed a simple act of violence against his girlfriend at the time, now his wife, Yasmine Driouech," the lawyer says, recalling that the influencer filed a complaint against the player after an argument in February, during Ihattaren’s birthday party at his residence in Vleuten (Utrecht). The player of Moroccan origin was arrested, then released. Later, Yasmine Driouech tried to withdraw her complaint, but the public prosecutor’s office had already taken over the case. In the course of 2023, Mohamed and Yasmine got married. But the public prosecutor’s office does not want to close the case without going through a judge.
Hendriksen believes the public prosecutor’s office "could have handled this case differently. Now we’re going to have all this fuss in court again. Think of all those people who really don’t know what it’s about, and who say ’he could end up in prison for that’. Well, I’ll take off my robe if he goes to prison for that, there’s really something wrong..." Ihattaren is also being prosecuted for "attempted incitement to threat". The lawyer confides that this is also a minor offense that has no connection to criminal or illegal activities and that the public prosecutor’s office could have handled outside the court.
Mohamed Ihattaren recently signed a contract with the Czech club Slavia Prague, after several years of instability. In 2019, he left PSV for Juventus, who loaned him to Sampdoria. But the 21-year-old player disappeared for a while before reappearing, which prompted the Italian club to terminate his contract after a few months. He was then loaned to Ajax who, disappointed with his performances, terminated his contract. Juventus, no longer knowing what to do with him, finally terminated his contract last July.
