Drug Trafficker Killed in Police Shootout in Fez, Morocco

A police operation carried out in Bab Ftouh in the medina of Fez resulted in the death of a drug trafficker who was the subject of a nationwide arrest warrant.
During the operation, the suspect attacked the agents, injuring one of them. After two warning shots, a senior police inspector was forced to target the suspect twice. The latter died after being transferred to the hospital, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) said in a statement.
The body of the suspect has been taken to the morgue. A forensic autopsy will be performed on the body. Pending the determination of the exact circumstances of this case, the prefectural judicial police service of the city of Fez has opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office.
