Drug Kingpin Escapes Rabat Police Station in Daring Getaway

The escape took place last Monday. The drug baron fled after stealing keys from the on-duty officers, reports the Arabic daily Assabah. He would have discreetly opened the cell door, as well as the gate of the police station to leave the premises. The elements of the third police district had arrested the suspect in flagrante delicto of drug trafficking, according to a source from the investigation. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, he had been placed in custody at the Souissi-Takadoum police station in Rabat.

After his escape, an investigation was opened, which was entrusted to the judicial police elements by the Rabat police prefecture. Investigators are working to identify the responsibilities. Meanwhile, the various units of the national security of Souissi-Takadoum are conducting search operations in the Hajja douar, Takadoum district, in order to find the fugitive. The search carried out at the escapee’s home proved negative.

Before the drug baron, another defendant in custody had escaped from the third district under the Hassan-Agdal district a few days earlier, before being caught by several police units.
