Two Drown, Five Survive Boat Accident at Moroccan Dam

While on an excursion, two young men drowned on Saturday in the Al-Mansour Ad-Dhabi dam in Ouarzazate. Five other young people survived this tragedy.

The seven young men, from the douars of the commune of Aït Sedrate Sahl El Gharbia, near Kelaat M’Gouna, decided to take a boat trip on the dam with an abandoned boat found on site. A few minutes later, the boat began to take on water and eventually sank, causing the drowning deaths of two young men, according to local sources to Al3omk.

Two young men managed to swim to the shore, while three others remained clinging to the boat until the arrival of the rescue services. Alerted, the local authorities, the civil protection elements and the royal gendarmerie went to the scene. The bodies of the two victims were recovered and transferred to the morgue. An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the accident.
