Drones, robots, exoskeletons: US special forces invite more than 65 countries to Rabat

Rabat will host SOCAFRICA’s main annual symposium in December. US and Moroccan forces will bring together military delegations and industry representatives around drones, autonomous robots, exoskeletons, night-vision equipment, small arms and other technologies intended for special operations.

Dubbed Silent Warrior 2026, the event will take place from December 7 to 11 at the Four Seasons in Rabat. It will be co-organized by the US Special Operations Command Africa, or SOCAFRICA, and the Royal Armed Forces, according to the official Silent Warrior 2026 website.

Silent Warrior is presented as the main annual symposium for special forces organized by SOCAFRICA. More than 44 African partner countries and 21 other international partner countries have been invited to send representatives to Morocco. Their actual presence will nevertheless depend on the confirmations sent to the organizers.

The event is intended to enable military leaders to examine the threats facing the continent, while also meeting directly with companies developing equipment for special forces. Plenary sessions, working groups, discussions with industry representatives and technology demonstrations are on the program.

The list published by SMX provides a precise idea of the equipment expected in Rabat. It includes drones, autonomous robotic systems and the training solutions required for their use. Companies working on soldier modernization and tactical command-and-control systems are also being sought.

Morocco and the United States are already developing a military center in Tan-Tan dedicated to drones and the testing of new technologies. Silent Warrior adds to this cooperation a meeting directly focused on the future needs of special operations units.

Drones will represent only part of this exhibition. SMX also wishes to attract manufacturers of exoskeletons, ballistic protection, load-carrying equipment, optronic systems and night-vision devices.

Small arms and tactical mobility vehicles are also among the categories highlighted. Other companies will be able to present solutions for establishing expeditionary bases in difficult environments, training soldiers in marksmanship or simulating the treatment of combat casualties.

Rabat’s selection strengthens Morocco’s position in the US military framework in Africa. The Kingdom will not merely serve as the host country: the FAR will take part in organizing a meeting during which African military officials will outline their needs and be able to discover the solutions proposed by industry representatives.

Silent Warrior is therefore neither a military exercise nor a conventional arms show. It combines strategic discussions, cooperation between special forces and the presentation of technologies that could be used in the field.
