The kingdom will acquire AN/PVS-31D models, directly assembled by defense contractor Elbit Systems of America. Through this mechanism, the country ensures it obtains technology, services, and training strictly aligned with American military standards. The major advantage of this equipment lies in its white phosphorus technology. Unlike traditional green screens, these goggles project a sharp black and white image that greatly reduces eye strain. Completely waterproof to 20 meters depth and equipped with an infrared illuminator for searching enclosed buildings or dark tunnels, they also possess an intelligent orientation sensor. The device remains active if the soldier looks up, and automatically shuts off once folded onto the helmet. Furthermore, with a focus distance of 23 centimeters from the face, operators can easily read maps, defuse explosives, or perform first aid procedures in complete darkness.
