Death Toll Rises to 11 in Errachidia Bus Accident as Flood Waters Claim More Victims

Rescue teams were able to discover the lifeless bodies of two other victims of the overturning of a bus at the level of the Oued Damchan bridge in the commune of El Khank in the province of Errachidia. This latest discovery worsens the provisional toll of the accident.
According to the authorities of the wilaya of the Drâa Tafilalet region, the rescue teams recovered the bodies of two other victims of the overturning, on Sunday, September 8, of a bus at the level of the Oued Damchan bridge in the commune of El Khank, in the province of Errachidia, following floods caused by heavy rains.
With this latest discovery, the provisional toll stands at 11 dead. In total, the 25 passengers of the bus, which was on the Casablanca-Rissani route, survived.
Before resuming, in the face of new floods that occurred on Sunday morning, the search and rescue operations carried out in the immediate vicinity of the accident site had to be suspended for a short period, the authorities said.
Nevertheless, they assured that all the human and logistical means continue to be mobilized to find the remaining passengers of the bus, who are currently considered missing.
The authorities also said that the relevant and competent services went to the scene after the accident. They transported the survivors, some of whom suffered injuries of varying degrees of severity, to the Moulay Ali Charif Regional Hospital for necessary care.
