Deadly Snake Bite Claims Moroccan Shepherd’s Life in Azilal Region

Last Monday, a shepherd from the Azilal region who was grazing his herd was bitten by a snake. He went into a coma and reportedly died shortly after.
The 61-year-old man reportedly went into a coma following this snake bite and would have breathed his last breath very quickly after, just after his transfer to the regional hospital in Beni Mellal, reports the website Alyaoum24.
Every year, some 30,000 people are victims of scorpion stings and snake bites in Morocco, according to Health Minister Anas Doukkali.
Last February, the Ministry of Health had issued a press release announcing the creation of a pharmaceutical unit that will have to manufacture sera, vaccines and biological products in order to meet national needs but also to export this type of product internationally. Sera and vaccines are intended to cure infectious diseases and poisonings due to snake and scorpion bites.
