Daylight Saving Time Shift May Affect Eid al-Fitr Date in France

This year, the switch to daylight saving time will take place in France in the night from Saturday, March 29 to Sunday, March 30. A change that could influence the end of Ramadan and the date of Eid al-Fitr.
In France, the month of Ramadan 2025 took place at standard time. The switch to daylight saving time will take place at the end of the holy month, in the night from Saturday, March 29 to Sunday, March 30, which could have consequences on the date of Eid al-Fitr.
As announced by the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), based on scientific calculations, the month of Ramadan will end on Saturday, March 29 and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30. For those who prefer to rely on the visual observation of the new crescent moon, Eid el-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31.
In either case, the switch to daylight saving time in the night of March 29 to 30 could change the day of the celebration. Muslims in France are therefore invited to be vigilant, even if time adjustment is automatic on most connected devices.
With the switch to daylight saving time, fasters will have to hold out one more hour before taking their evening meal (iftar). It is up to the mosque leaders to raise awareness among the faithful about this time change during the Friday prayer on March 28, advises Saphirnews.
