COVID-19 Cases Surge in Morocco’s Marrakech-Safi Region, Topping 700 Infections

The second region most affected by covid-19 in Morocco, Marrakech-Safi recorded 57 new infections this Sunday.
Positioned just behind the epicenter of the covid-19 epidemic in Morocco (Casa-Settat with 779 cases), the Marrakech region has largely exceeded 700 coronavirus cases (720 confirmed cases in total).
According to data from the Regional Health Directorate (DRS), these cases are distributed between the prefecture of Marrakech (454) and the provinces of Rhamna (215), Al Haouz (25), Chichaoua (22), El Kelâa des Sraghna and Essaouira (two cases each). The provinces of Safi and Youssoufia have not recorded any cases of infection.
As for the new cases recorded in the region until Sunday at 10 a.m., they were registered in the province of Rhamna (36) and the prefecture of Marrakech (21).
To date, the total number of people declared cured at the level of the Marrakech-Safi region has been set at 52, while the number of deaths stands at 35.
At the national level, 135 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (covid-19) were confirmed until Sunday at 10 a.m. This brings the total number of contamination cases to 2,820.
