Coronavirus Fears Spark Surge in Demand for Hygiene Products

The spread of the coronavirus is making the fortune of companies that market antiseptic products. Some public institutions have launched tenders, while others have resorted to direct orders from their suppliers.

While some sectors, such as tourism, are suffering from the epidemic, others, such as the hygiene products sector, are thriving and making good sales. According to le360, the "public procurement" portal has been inundated with tenders for the purchase of detergents, disinfectants and other hygiene products. Others have preferred to procure directly from their suppliers, given the urgency of the need.

As for the health facilities, they have called on competition. This is the case of the Ibn Sina University Hospital Center, which has launched a tender for the purchase of 2,738,000 dirhams of hygiene and antiseptic products for the benefit of the establishments attached to it. Products will be distributed to the Ibn Sina hospital center management, the pediatric and oncology departments of Moulay Abdellah and Moulay Youssef, as well as the Souissi maternity hospital.

In parallel, the hospitals have received sufficient quantities of protective masks reserved for professionals in the sector. The Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, had also announced that Morocco had a stock of 12 million masks that his department could use if necessary.
