Controversial Singer’s Tourism Promotion in Fez Sparks Political Backlash

The visit of Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred to Fez with the backdrop of promoting domestic tourism is not to the liking of PJD deputy Mohammed El Harti. He does not hesitate to criticize the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of the city.
"The Moroccan National Tourism Office is financing a CRT without any legitimacy. The Regional Tourism Council has invited a controversial Moroccan singer who has also lost all credibility and legitimacy. Through this action, it is the image of the city that suffers," he directly addressed the Minister of Tourism, Nadia Fettah Alaoui during the meeting of the production sectors commission in the House of Representatives.
The reaction of the CRT of Fez did not wait. In a press release published on its official Facebook page, this institution provided a formal denial. It explained that the singer was staying in a guest house in the city accompanied by a few members of his family, and that he had not carried out any domestic tourism promotion campaign. However, the publication of a photo showing Jawhar Mhammed Yassir, president of the CRT of Fez and Selma Alaoui Mdaghri, communication manager of this council offering a gift to the performer of Salina Salina is far from silencing the controversy.
