Morocco Unveils Tourism Recovery Plan Amid Industry Push for 2022 Rebound

Travel agents want to relaunch their activities at all costs. To this end, they met with Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy to reflect on the development prospects of the sector.
Gathered around the Moroccan Travel Management DMC Club, these travel agents continue to mobilize for the resumption of the sector. The meeting allowed the two parties to unveil the main lines of the MTM study on the recovery plan for activities by 2022. The travel agents proposed to design "a new way of doing things at the strategic and operational level". They also advocated for action to be taken in terms of promotion and marketing of the product in its multiple facets.
Among the conclusions reached, there is the revitalization of the Moroccan Convention Bureau project, the launch of a campaign for national and international MICE, as well as the development of domestic tourism according to a new process.
The members of the MTM DMC Club wish to engage in negotiations with Royal Air Maroc for the signing of a joint agreement. They also want to mobilize to support the supervisory authority in its various tourism projects. Moreover, the MTM DMC Club recognizes the urgent need to label travel agencies, train future talents and set up travel advisor promotions through the MTM Academy.
As for the minister, she proposed the creation of an e-tourism platform, the new configuration of the learning academy, as well as the development of a new business model in order to meet the demand for domestic tourism pending the opening of borders.
