Congolese Soccer Stars Flee to Morocco by Canoe, Shocking Club Officials
Friday 19 July 2019, by
Four key players from the sports association "Vita club" (AS "Vita club") in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, have taken flight. On board a canoe, they fled to Morocco, announces a tweet from the club.
Morocco, the destination of choice for African migrants, is the object of attraction for players of AS "Vita Club". In a statement published on the club’s Twitter account, the officials denounce the flight of the four players still under contract. The deserters therefore left without the authorization of the Kinshasa club.
The same source indicates that the four players "fled the country for Morocco, via Brazzaville, by crossing the Congo River by canoe". However, the AS "Vita club" intends to take the necessary measures with the Congolese Football Association (FECOFA) to submit to the international regulations regarding the transfer of Moroccan teams that will eventually enlist these deserters.
