Civil Guard Rescues Moroccan Migrant Crossing Strait of Gibraltar in Inflatable Boat

The maritime service of the Civil Guard carried out several rescue operations this weekend. On Saturday, it came to the aid of a man of Moroccan origin who was navigating in an inflatable boat towards the coast of Algeciras (Cadiz) after crossing the Strait of Gibraltar.
The rescue services received an alert on Friday concerning a man crossing the Strait of Gibraltar on board an inflatable boat, heading towards the coast of Tarifa. The rescue boat Salvamar Arcturus and the patrol boat Río Águeda of the Civil Guard maritime service were mobilized, but without success. The man and his family did not provide any precise information to locate him.

The Helimer 202 helicopter was also deployed before obtaining information on Saturday morning that the man had reached the coast of Algeciras.
In addition, the maritime service also rescued on Saturday nine people of Moroccan origin who were navigating in two boats towards the coast of Cadiz. Another boat carrying three Moroccan men was also rescued, while the Salvamar Arcturus was heading towards the port of Algeciras.
