E-Cigarette Mogul Buys $11.5M Moroccan-Inspired Mansion in Palm Desert

In Palm Desert, a modern Moroccan-style riad mansion has been sold to famous American entrepreneur Howard Panes, a pioneer in the electronic cigarette industry.
Howard Panes, 53, acquired the property nicknamed "Casbah Cove" through a limited liability company based in Florida for $11.5 million, a 17% drop from the last price it was set at ($13.9 million).
Located in Bighorn Golf Club, "Casbah Cove" covers an area of 1,175.22 m². It has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and homogeneous indoor and outdoor living spaces. There are glass walls that disappear and a retractable glass ceiling that shelters a courtyard in the center of the house.
"Casbah Cove" also includes a hammam spa with a steam room, a temperature-controlled wine cellar and a shisha room that can accommodate 20 people, an outdoor movie theater, lush gardens, moat-shaped fountains in the play area and several pools, including a 22.86 m² infinity pool and a 12.192 m² round pool, a complete outdoor kitchen with a barbecue, etc.
