Child Found Hidden in Shopping Cart at Spanish Border Checkpoint

The trafficking of children is thriving at the level of the Spanish enclave, Melilla. This time, it is a 7-year-old child of Syrian origin who tried to cross the Spanish border checkpoint in a shopping cart.
A 54-year-old Spanish national, coming from Nador, tried to smuggle a 7-year-old minor hidden in a shopping cart in his car on Monday, October 21.
It was a routine control operation that allowed the child to be spotted among the food bags piled up in the back of the freight car.
The individual, residing in the Spanish presidium, was taken into custody and will be prosecuted for infringing the rights of foreign citizens, in accordance with the Spanish Penal Code.
